About Design’s influence by Nathalie Molho (part 1) real estate expert in Paris France

How does design impact our lives?
Through the attractiveness of its designers, France is winning the first place in the world of DESIGN thanks to its creativity, for example : MAISON and OBJET  fair – real reference now , thanks to the number of opening of designers show-rooms, but also to the numerous settlings of  international dimension creators ,  interior designers and decorators .... They  became real stars !
Through a brief history of design, let's discover how our habits evolved thanks to design
culture !

“ …The history of design is inseparable from the industrial revolution, mass production and
technological experimentation. By overcoming all historical references and drawing inspiration
from cubism, the Bauhas and De Stijl Dutch movement laid the foundations for design in the
20's,explains Anne Christine Pierre, Interior designer at Marais Decoration
 •   The word "design" made its official appearance in 1929, as a consequence of the majoreconomic crisis of the time. Facing a market hit by the crisis, a few American industrialists hired specialists of the form:  cartoonists and interior designers in order  to make their products more attractive and more competitive

Raymond LOEWY (1893-1986)
Born in France, emigrated to the United States in the 20's, he was a well-known fashion illustrator before becoming the genius and proneer of design with the introduction of aerodybaic lines or industrial products  like cars, locomotives, bus and cigarettes cases LUCKY STRIKE
Famous thank's to the book "Ugliness dosn't sell' Raymond Loewy was the firsy to understand and convince industry that a good design could easily increase volume of sales

Today the challenge is transfered elsewhere, with the digital stake, give shape to the elusive and respond to new lifestyles and  a new kind of conxumer : the hyperconnected nomad !

The designers, stars of the decades to come?
They always had a star status: Raymond Loewy, photographed as a star in the 30's
Patrick Seguin, a gallerist who has been instrumental in helping many collectors rediscoverFrench designers such as Jean Prouve, has been exhibiting Royère for years, and opened a show at his London gallery in 2016 showcasing his work.

After having exhibited Royere for years, he declares: "One may say there has been a worldwide recognition of mid twentieth century design: Le Corbusier, Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret and Jean Royère managed to set a unique vocabulary and are recognized and have their rightful place in the history of art. For more than 25 years, we have undertaken and completed a rigorous amount of work to promote their creations, and also to ensure that the largest international collectors and most prestigious museums include their pieces in their collections. At the same time, we developed an editorial line of publications, we published a two-volume boxed set about Jean Royère in 2012 with Galerie Jacques Lacoste, with more than 5000 original documents, archive images and blueprints."

Born in 1949, Stark was immediately famous when President Mitterrand asked him to redecorate his apartment at the Elysee Palace. Metal is one of his favorite materials and elegance and sobriety of his furniture echoes the pure lines of the 30s. This leads us to consider Starck (whose slogans are: “producer of goods” and “TRUE BEAUTY IS HARMONY” ) as one of the emerging leader in design, and as a transmitter of design through a transversal vision of his profession and his multiple skills. Considering creation as a moral duty, a logical consequence of the obligation to understand our world, he is currently designing for several editors : Alessi, Emeco, Kartell, Flos, Driade. He also collaborated with Puma designing sneakers for fashion fans! He was chosen by the French designer JP Gaultier to decorate his flagship store in New York, his bubbling creativity with more than 200 projects per year, allows him to express himself as well on the design of boat (Steve Jobs Boat or the Sailing Yacht design for Andreï Melnitchenko)  or hotels (Mondrian Hotel in L.A. Mama Shelters Hotels, Delano Hotel in Miami, ) and on various objects relevant to his iconoclastic aesthetics

Andrée PUTMAN (1925-2013) was a world renowned architect and interior designer, famous for her timeless,
elegant and minimalist style, highlighting the structure of elements she rethinks
She began her career with crossroads, being a journalist of decoration and art before founding MAFIA the first TRENDS  office, her main client being the brand PRISUNIC. With Didier Grunbach, she created the Creators and Industrials group, launching fashion designers before launching a new ECART office that, through the re-edition of forgotten furniture, will allow her to create an elegant timeless style that is in harmony with her era.

In 84 her works of the hotel Morgans in NY launched her international career, she then realized more and more projects of interior design: she designs numerous decors for hotels including The Lake in Japan, Im Wasserturm in Germany and the Sheraton at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport,, restaurants and chic stores as  the Azzedine Alaïa workshop, boutiques for Balenciaga, Bally and Lagerfeld which will  carry her signature, including a variety of furniture and everyday objects. In 1994, Andrée Putman realizes the interior design of the Concorde airplanes operated by Air France. Studio putman is now headed by her daughter Olivia

Matali Crasset ( born in 1965) is bringing democratic values to design “ bring fluidity to life” she uses to say. After studying marketing, she graduated as a designer, worked for Starck before creating her own label in 1988. She opened a place in common with the stylist Ron Orb and the music label Fcommunication. She loves to say: color is life, when I choose an orange or when I play with a blue, I just feel like using the color as we should all the time. That is to say without complex, limit or a-priori

Muji, the famous Japanese brands for design and minimalists objects, is going further and offers now houses to build as a kit design project mixing design and ergonomy:
MUJI New kit houses
MUJI New kit houses
Kit houses that are easy to assemble and that combine design and ecology. On the occasion of Tokyo Design Week, the models of these kit houses were exhibited in a park in central Tokyo. These green houses look like Japanese huts, "huts" that we can mount and install wherever we want. A real revolution in the world of construction. One of these very simple models, in line with Muji's spirit combining the functional elegance of the minimalist design, with the sober and clean aestheticism of Muji, was designed by the architect designer Naoto Fukasawa for whom a hut should allow to live independently where it was decided.

As summarized by Anne Christine PIERRE "... What interests me in design concept is the search for a solution to a particular problem and the use of technical innovation that opens up new possibilities. It's a window on tomorrow. An improbability or an obviousness. As such it can be destabilizing. That is why a good design object must have "meaning" and cause a visual emotion in addition to its functionality. When all three are together we are dealing with a future classic! Philippe Stark excels in this practice »

The Republican Guard: a holistic link between past, present and future? Interview with Commandant Lamarre, comments by Nathalie MOLHO, expert in real estate Paris France

Republican Guard Parade
Republican Guard Parade

As explained to me by Mr. Pierre Lamarre, officer of the Communication cabinet of the Republican Guard, this subdivision of the gendarmerie was officially created in 1802 by BONAPARTE (but its origins go back to 1254  when the famous watch was a security unit created in Paris in by Saint Louis, mainly responsible for the policing the city). The Republican Guard formerly called "Municipal Guard of Paris", now dependent on the Ministry of the Interior and also the Defense, has several missions, including protecting the high places of power or being a presidential escort and also to ensure the safety of Parisians.

The Quarter of Célestins (very close to Quai des Célestins) is built on the site of a former
covent, the covent of Celestins ( founded in the 14th century) and is a seoarate entity in le MARAIS, with more than 150 employees and as many families who live there, as well as 150 horses. It houses the Commander of the Republican Guard, who is also General of the division and commands the regiment of the Cavalry of the Republican Guard
It was between 1895 and 1901 that the last elements of the cloister were demolished during the construction of the new headquarters of the staff of the Republican Guard, boulevard Henri IV
Republican Guard front house Bd HENRI IV
Republican Guard front house Bd HENRI IV

Today from the Célestins headquarter several patrols on foot and on horseback, depart daily through Paris. But the protection and security of Parisians does not epitomize the very essence of this powerful entity, inseparable from the republican symbol by its panache, excellence and prestige. Indeed, when President Emmanuel Macron offered Vesuve Brekka, a horse, to Chinese President Xi Jinping two weeks ago, it became  one of the symbols of diplomatic relations and the Franco-Chinese friendship.
Music is a part of the universe of the Republican Guard. The professional musicians play on varied registers and interpret an extentive repertory. It’s all this know-how and excellence that Parisians admire, especially during the great parade of July 14th
The cavalry fanfare (120 musicians) perpetuates the tradition of the ringtones which, ,
I quote the Guard web site  "transmitted with the drums the orders of the military maneuver.
The characteristic beat of the timpani and the clear sound of the trumpets invariably arouse
 epic dreams.”

By the picturesque traditional uniform, the sumptuous flames of trumpets and timpani aprons, the brilliance of its brilliant brass, the cavalry fanfare remains a highly sought-after formation both in France and abroad
Thanks to the HERITAGE DAYS event organized in France, one can easily discover the
exceptional know-how of all craftsmen involved in the operation and prestige of this unit

Republican guard craftsmen heritage

Their musical performance are well known to Parisians who applaud at major ceremonies
of state including presidential and state foreign sovereigns escorts.

And these  are craftsmen who utilize and preserve from generation to generation  unique and ancestral techniques: saddler, casquier, swords feller, blacksmith, as explains  Commandant Lamarre with passion.
It is remarkable to know they are twenty metal workers and the last in the world, to forge
their iron integrally, by  ancient technique with three hammers, "the French" thus offering
horses irons "on -measure"
The Republican Guard is very popular scoring great success, with a very present public.
It is advisable to reserve in advance, individually or in small groups, via CULTIVAL

The Republican Guard is also present outside its walls, at many festive events including :
· Paris Eiffel JUMPING
· World Cup Jumping Event Finals
· Event at the HOTEL DE VILLE

Because of its prestige, it has special affiliations with the  best brands that symbolize French
excellence, such as J.M. Weston (official supplier of boots for riders), Hermès (which
organized a fashion presentation in the carousel, currently under renovation) etc ...
The horses in this elite unit are carefully selected, with the requirement to make 1M65 at the
withers at the age of three or four years (as evidenced by the online purchase campaign on
the site of the GR)
The Republican Guard is “trendy”: it has been rewarded with a "Q" of gold, in the show
Quotidienne by the french TV journalist Yann BARTHES, for his talent including July 14
his interpretation of a medley DAFT PUNK

The Garde Républicaine, a bridge between old times and a bubbling present, is modernizing
vibrating with its time by maintaining and fastening an image of excellence and its
extraordinary position which has recently become a trademark. What's more natural for an
entity which performs on multiple platfoms and symbolizes so well the cultural roots and
the French tradition

Artsy immersion in le Marais by Nathalie Molho, expert in real estate in Paris France

Historic district of Paris, but also new epicenter of Fashion, the Marais vibrates of an artistic impulse since the beginning of its rehabilitation by André Malraux in the 60s, with a record concentration of galleries of Modern Art and contemporary design, since the late 90s
FASSIANOS Spring 's coming ESTADES Gallery

Actually, the best names of international scene of Contemporary Art Market gathered here in the center of Paris: Right Bank, dethroning the famous and now more bourgeois 6th arrondissement.( left bank)

Famous names - sometimes on three continents such as Thaddaeus Ropac in Hong Kong, Paris, New York or London - present in the Marais since 1990 or Daniel Templon who shine in the firmament of the most famous gallerists and find themselves annually in the rituals that have become the 10 contemporary Art exhibitions around the world: Art Basel, Art Brussel, Art Dubai, Paris Photo, FIAC Paris, Artissima (Turin), the Armory show (New York), Art Geneva, Art Cologne, Expo Chicago, real must-see events, or through events dedicated only to professionals such as:Talking Galleries, (Barcelona symposium) In the context of the globalizing art world : a platform which is focused on the discussion of key issues relevant to the gallery sector, where leading art-world figures are brought together to debate and exchange new trends specific to gallerism and the art market in general, through lecture, work-shops and lab
Talking Galleries Barcelona symposium

Next exhibition that we will talk about a lot and thay falls in the light of current societal and political issues : VALIE EXPORT, this austrian and septuagenarian artist was a feminist pasionaria in the 60's, trading her name against an artist name corresponding to a brand of cigarettes. After collecting for 25 years this underground photographer, Thaddaeus Ropac gets the artist exlusive representation in 2017

Her work on making her body subject and center of her art, is best seen in her series: Body Configurations (1972-76) that the curator of the exhibition Caroline Bourgeois has already highlighted at the Jeu de Paume national museum in 2003, and who explains: “VALIE EXPORT has always refused conventions. Rejecting the role of housewife, she turns to art with a sense of urgency. Her first and seminal gesture is when she dubs herself VALIE EXPORT—in all capital letters—to match the strength of an other self who may bear a masculine name. Defining your name instead of enduring your father’s.
Valie Export THADDAEUS ROPAC Gallery

At Templon, (Gallery founded in 1966) other notable news: from 14 February to 23 April 23 2018, the Centre Pompidou is exhibiting the remarkable donation Jim Dine recently made to the Musée National d’Art Moderne: 28 paintings and sculptures produced between 1961 and 2016. A gift through which, as the artist puts it, he wanted to «pay back a cultural and personal debt to France» – namely the many years spent in Paris, which introduced him to «an aesthetic» that has enlightened his artistic decisions. In acclaiming this gesture, the exhibition strikingly retraces a unique career that is still productive
Setlled in Montrouge, the artist of 82 years, is still painting, inspired by the self-portrait through recurring objects like the hearts, the Venus of milo, the dressing gown, the tools or the figure of Pinocchio

A must read "An history of contemporary art' the biography of Daniel Templon , enriched by the words of the gallerist evocating his trajectory, the encounter with Catherine Millet at the age of 20, and discoveries of the greatest contemporary artists such as Cesar, Ben Vautier, Carl André, Frank Stella, Andy Warhol or Helmut Newton. It thus gives the keys of this history of the political and artistic transformations of the last half-century

Beside these giants, known and recognized all over the planet, stand out from other gallery owners as Magda Danysz, newcomer who arrived very young on the artsy planet (she sets up her first exhibition at 18 rue Keller), whose vocation is to support emerging artists by offering atypical program combining visual art, digital art and street art in her gallery located rue Amelot.
Supporting different type of arts, Magda Danysz is always looking for multidisciplinarity. Convinced that the world of art is constantly changing, she is committed to democratize contemporary art by making her gallery a place of discovery and conviviality Discoverer of talent, the gallery was the first to present in Paris, or in Shanghai, the works of Shepard Fairey (Obey), Mark Ryden, JR, VHILS or Prune Nourry. But it is not content with Paris, and pushes further the adventure: from London to Shanghai, opening a new gallery in the BUND, the most dynamic area of the city Commissioner of the exhibition "Street Generation (s) 40 years of urban art" in Roubaix, she is the author of  an  history of urban art, parallel to her own beginnings She met the artists before they became stars. "Our job is similar to that of the gold digger," she compares. When she exposes, in 2003, Shepard Fairey, the American is not yet haloed of his posters for the campaign of Barack Obama

Moreover, Magda Danysz is also member of the board of “Cube”, the first multimedia cultural center in France, dedicated to digital creation, opened in 2001, become one of the most famous in Europe, it explores and crosses territories digital creativity, social innovation and technology, offering more than 200 workshops and events each year. Thus, more than 3000 artists from the international scene, young or experienced talents, have met an audience in demand for cultural renewal.

For neophytes who would like to be guided in a made on measure tour dedicated to contemporary art, Wonderful Time offers a direct contact with an expert who will know by experience as a collector and  also as an art historian in order to let you discover all the subtleties of the offer currently available via the Parisian galleries of contemporary art

Another must-see gallery in the Marais: the POLKA gallery, which has been on rue St Gilles since 2007, presents an old and modern photographic program by questioning the representation of major world events, with a selection of artists such as: William Klein, Jean- Marie Perier, Elliott Erwitt etc ...

The exhibition "WOMEN OF THE WORLD" by Sebastiao Salgado and Marc Ribboud is open until 20 January 2018
Do not miss the flash interview of Sebastiao Salgado:

Finally Place des Vosges, do not miss one the most interesting and multi-facets gallery, opened in 2009 by Michel ESTADES, also present in Lyon and Toulon ( south of FRANCE) expert and merchant since 25 years, a real reference for the works of many modern masters or contemporary figurative figures, such as the famous Jean Cocteau, or the most famous Bernard Buffet but also Cavailles, Dufy, Utrillo, or greek painter Alekos Fassianos, and also the sculpture department with Boudon, Derely or Colcombet
Each year, the 3 sites ( PARIS – LYON- TOULON) organize about 30 monographic and thematic exhibitions

On the other hand, according to an annual list established in 2013, among the 100 most popular contemporary living artists in France, three are "house" and exclusive artists of the Estades Gallery: Chanco, Malle and Jehan; and eight other painters are permanently presented by the Estades Gallery: Fusaro, Combas, Aizpiri, Jouenne, Weisbuch, Raya, Truphemus and Gantner (Source ART ACTUEL - No. 89 - Nov / Dec 2013).
"A passion, the word is not too strong to express what is the driving force of my activity since always. I am primarily an art lover, a collector. I buy and exhibit in my galleries what I would have liked to keep in my private collection. My best reward is to see that I share my favorites and my expertise. Thus expresses the founder of the eponymous Gallery, which never ceases to innovate: in 2012, the Estades Gallery created a department dedicated to monumental Art. This "tailor-made" offer concerns town halls, local authorities, businesses and individuals, wishing to enhance their real estate assets and offer well-being through the acquisition of a major sculpture.
The Gallery offers a large panel of national and international famous artists, topics and manufacturing alternatives, while being responsible for the entire project process. Each order -made on measure, is unique and personalized to each customer. Galerie Estades opened in 2009 on the mythical Parisian place classified as a historical monument. This former Place Royale became Place des Vosges is one of the heart of the European art market. Between the pavilions of the King and Queen, not far from the houses of the Marquise de Sevigne and Victor Hugo. The Estades Gallery, located under the ancient arcades of this elegant square of the Marais, presents exhibitions of the modern and contemporary Masters.
